I recently updated from legacy SQL Developer 4.1 to the brand new 19.2 - and switched back to the old version for the following reasons:
- With 4.1, in PL/SQL Editor you could show up a windiff of the editor content and the db-version of the code (Compare With - File on Disk). With 19.2, both versions are always displayed as identical. In the quick diff feature of 19.2, which could possibly serve as a substitution, you have to find the first difference by yourself, then it is hard to navigate from difference to difference. I didn't succeed to add the commands for previous - next difference to the toolbar or to assign a hotkey to them.
- With 4.1, you could drag a selection of column names from the Popup Describe window (Shift-F4) to the editor. In 19.2, this still works but the column names are delimited by ', which is annoying.
- This one made my decision to switch back: Working with timed out connections, I got stuck in the 19.2 with the dialog "Connection busy, Try again / abort" showing up every couple of seconds. The application was blocking, and the dialog showed up again and again, regardless of the chosen action.
