"CATALOG START WITH" backups on media manager (SBT)

Is there an equivalent method to CATALOG START WITH ' ' for disk, for CATALOGing backups on a media manager where there doesn't exist any metadata information about it? For example, say backups taken a month ago have aged out of the controlfile and Recovery Catalog is lost - is there a way to re-catalog these backups?
