Cannot ping vm host - destination host unreachable

639423Jul 20 2009 — edited Jul 23 2009
Hi
I'm a newbie to vmware.
I am setting it up for oracle rac usage and am following an official guide (the one from vincent chan).

I have set up 2 x Linux Servers (Oracle Enterprise Linux 4), both with bridged networking and each with static i.p.'s.

Now the problem I'm experiencing is that when the 2 servers are powered on, I cannot ping either machine.
If I restart the network services in Linux, it then works fine and I can ping between them. I think this is causing an issue because i'm trying to set up a clustered filesystem between the two servers and it checks the connection when the server boots up. I've never seen this on "physcial" hardware as such.

Vmware Server version is 2.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers
