cannot install correctly Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 on WinXP Pro

I did everything here :first.http://otn.oracle.com/obe/obe9ir2/obe-in/9iR2DBpreinstall/9iR2DBpreinstall.htm

then installed , went quite well till giving SYS and SYSTEM Paswords here: Nr. 17 at http://otn.oracle.com/obe/obe9ir2/obe-in/9iR2DBinstall/9iR2DBinstall.htm

it hung up so I had to close it through task manager(jrew process and the window)

and then, through Start > Programs > Oracle-OraHome92> Enterprise Manager Console it does not accept any passwords as expected. What should i do?

I uninstalled and installed several times. even downloaded and tried 9.1 (which gives other error messages)
What am I missing here?
