Cannot import excel file into Oracle table

I am trying to import an excel file into an Oracle table. I am using the Data Import Wizard of Oracle SQL Developer 1.5.1 Build MAIN-5440. I get as far as the Data Preview dialog, step 1 of 4. The Data Preview looks fine and I see my data correctly. When I click next, nothing happens; I get no error message, and it will not go to step 2. The import works fine if I use a .csv file, but my data fields have commas which I want to preserve. I am using Windows 2000 Pro and Excel 2002, SP3. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
