Cannot Get SQL Developer Running in Linux Mint

Using new install of Linux Mint 13 running in Virtualbox.

Followed the instructions found on this site's download page and nothing seemed to happen.

Followed a YouTube vid that recommended the use of 'alien' and it seemed to install but I can't seem to find the folder entitled 'sqldeveloper'.

Synaptic Package Manager shows that sqldeveloper and sqldeveloper-package are installed.

How can I get to launch the program?

I've also installed 'jdk-7u7-linux-i586.rpm'

Sqldeveloper file apparently installed is 'sqldeveloper-3.2.09.30-1.noarch.rpm'
