cannot connect to internet after installing linux on my computer

Hi,

I installed oracle enterprise 5 on my home computer. everything looks fine except that i cannot connect to the internet. i get determing ip address for eth0 service failed error.

i have configured network connection as default to use DHCP. has anybody faced the same before ? any help ?
