Cannot Connect server=dedicated

Hi,

We have a 10g db server which is configured for shared_server.

i am trying to connect in dedicated mode from a client by setting server=dedicated in my tnsnames.ora, however on trying this the connection just hangs.

Any ideas on whats going wrong?
