Can we use RMAN backup taken in one platform to be used in another?

Hello All,

I have an RMAN full database backup taken in IBM AIX. Is it possible to restore this backup and use it in another machine which is Sun Solaris?

To my knowledge it is not possible as RMAN also do block level copying. And if in any way we have to achieve this we may have to go for EXP/IMP or new 10g feature of TTS between supporting platforms.

Please provide me an answer to this as I have to proceed with a data refresh soon enough.
