Can't see substitution variables in Financial Reporting Studio

Hi all:

For some reason I can't see substitution variables in Financial Reporting Studio. We're a v11.1 install.

I can see them in: EAS (where they were created), Planning (designing web forms), Essbase (legacy Add-In). Just not in the FR Studio.

We have restarted the entire environment and I've restarted the Studio. When I'm selecting members for a dimension, I can see the Substitution Variables folder with a (+) next to it. When I click it, it goes off looking for perhaps 20 seconds, then the (+) disappears and there are no variables listed (we have MANY of them).

Any thoughts?
