Java SE (Java Platform, Standard Edition)

Hey all...

i am trying to install netbeans on my pc but i am having the following problems...

When i run netbeans-4_0-bin-windows.exe i have an error stating :
A suitable JVM could not be found. Please run the program again using the option -is:javahome <JAVA HOME DIR>

but i jave already installed sdk and j2re 1.5.01_01 on my pc..

i am trying to do what the error says and i run in cmd netbeans-4_0-bin-windows.exe -is:javahome D:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_01

or D:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_01\bin
or "D:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_01"
or "D:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_01\bin"
or the jre folder with the above combination but i get the same error message

i tried to uninstall any program that uses sdk or jre (jcreator, jbuilder) and the install the jdk-1_5_0_02-windows-i586-p.exe. But when i try to install the netbeans-4_0-bin-windows.exe i get the same error message.

I also tried to declare some enviromental variables like JAVA_HOME, javahome and PATH to
D:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_01
or D:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_01\bin
or "D:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_01"
or "D:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_01\bin"
but nothing happens...

(i rebooted my pc and with an echo command i can see their value in cmd)

If now i try to install jdk-1_5_0_01-nb-4_0-bin-win.exe (jave with the netbans bundled) i get the following -similar- error .

Error in instructions. Invalid jmv file name specified LAUNCH. Invalid variable specification. Line Number(4)

i tried to uninstall completly any jdk...i tried to install
j2sdk-1_4_2_02-windows-i586-p.exe
jdk-1_5_0_01-windows-i586-p.exe
jdk-1_5_0_02-windows-i586-p.exe

and then install a versionof netbeans and get the error again. (note:the above installation of java environment finishes successfully but i get the error message when i try to install netbeans)
i tried the following netbeans versions in any combination with the above versions of java but again i get the error message..
netbeans-3_6-windows.exe
netbeans-4_0-bin-windows.exe
netbeans-4_1-beta-windows.exe

i already tried the following jdk (with or without a jdk) with the netbeans bundled but nothing again..
jdk-1_5_0_01-nb-4_0-bin-win.exe
jdk-1_5_0_02-nb-4_0-ml-win.exe
j2sdk-1_4_2_07-nb-4_0-bin-win.exe
jdk-1_5_0_02-windows-i586-p.exe

NOTE: i have the above errors in two pcs
first one : winxp sp1 fully updated
laptop: win2k sp4....!! (ibm thinkpad T30)

i also formated my partition in laptop, installed win2k sp4, installed the hardware drivers, and the norton with its update and i faced the problema again!!
