Can purge during expdp cause ORA-01466: unable to read data - table definition has changed?

I run an expdp job and I suspect that while the expdp was running another job purged a table. Does that sound probable?

My expdp then logged an error:

ORA-31693: Table data object "XXXXXXX" failed to load/unload and is being skipped due to error:

ORA-02354: error in exporting/importing data

ORA-01466: unable to read data - table definition has changed

Oracle11g R2  11.2.0.2.0
