Oracle Database Discussions

Hi I am a student,

I have limited expertise. I have spent the last month trying to download Oracle 11G Enterprise Edition. I have had problem after problem and error after error just to get the installation to occur without an error and have access. I have spend 4 hours with my professor who did not know how to fix my laptop and numerous hours with Dell. I was able to get this fixed but I had to uninstall and reinstall at least 50 times and on 2 different laptops.

The install was successful finally and I have all the pieces I need. Unfortunately I can not log in. Not as sysdba and not as myself. I receive an error that says ORA-1250 TNS- Adapter protocol when I try to log onto SQL PLUS. I attempted to log into Oracle Enterprise Manager but it does not recognize my user name or password. I have only used and set one password and username but not sure if it could have defaulted some how to something else. I am a month behind my school work because of the ongoing issues and so close here. Can anyone help me get the password set properly so I can access Enterprise Manager and SQL PLUS and do my schoolwork before I fail and then won't graduate in May?
