Can I run root.sh while the db service is up

user5732639Nov 15 2010 — edited Nov 15 2010
Hey there...I have recently installed 10g home. Since I did not have the root password to run root.sh, I had to postpone that run. Meanwhile, brought up a couple of databases and listener from the new home. From what I understand, root.sh is something that changes some file permissions, creates oratab file and etc etc. Now can I run root.sh while the db and listener services are up and there wouldn't be any need to shutdown anything to run root.sh. Is that correct?

Thanks in adv.
