Can connect from sqlplus but not from sql developer.

Hi All,

I have recently installed oracle 12 by downloading zip files from oracle website. The installation was sucessfull, however I am facing a problem while logging into sql developer. I am able to login using sqlplus with the below command

sqlplus sys/oracle as sysdba

but failing to connect from the same from sql developer. Kindly help me in this regard.
