CAM 6.6 under Windows user authentication problem

807557Jul 8 2010 — edited Jul 30 2010
I have just setup a brand new Windows XP Pro installation (SP3 with all online updates, etc.) in order to run CAM to monitor several Sun RAID units that we have on our system. I have just installed CAM 6.6 and applied patch 141475-01. Both have installed successfully with no indicated problems at all. I can successfully login to the Sun Web Management Console as Administrator (yet to setup other accounts for this such as storage/guest). However, when I attempt to run the CAM software from the SMC screen I end up with a message that states "User Administrator is not allowed to access management software, log out and log in as a valid user".

Under a previous Windows XP installation I had CAM 6.5 installed (with latest patches) successfully with no errors. I was able to login to the Sun Web Managment Console and then onto CAM without any troubles (as Administrator). After upgrading this setup to 6.6 and patch 141475-01 the same user authentication error occurs. I have also tried logging in on the old box as the storage and guest users with the same error for those users as well (those two users were present in the WinXP setup and configured according to the instructions presented in the Sun documentation).

Therefore, it looks as if there is some sort of authentication setup issue under Windows with the new CAM software. Looking in C:\Program Files\Sun\Common Array Manager\Component\se6130ui\var\log\webconsole\debug_se6130ui.txt file that contains various messages indicating an error with com.sun.netstorage.array.mgmt.cfg.bui.login.PrimaryLoginViewBean
I currently have the SMC setup to only display logging at INFO level.

If anyone has come across this problem and knows how to work around it then any suggestions would be appreciated. I have a couple of 6140 RAID boxes that I would like to put the new baseline firmware on and this issue is preventing me from doing so! :-)
