Calling external services WITHOUT using connectors

We have some existing calls happening through connectors.

We're on OIA 23B On Premise Version.

We're exploring option of bypassing connector for one of the requests to an external service.

We want to call that external service directly from OPA and get response.

We also want to know if there any new features added in latest CLOUD version to call external services too.

We want to know option for On Premise 23B and option for Cloud LATEST version.

Any ideas ?
