Calculated data vs Derived data

Hi,

I have a question about what is the difference between derived data vs calculated data. As name suggests, both look same but I think the cell status says 'Derived' can be manually inputed but calculated can not. So my question is how to tag a cell to be derived cell and what is the significance of the same?
