BUG ??? - Identifier Too Long ORA-972 --9i Lite

389751Mar 11 2003
Currently we have a vendor-supported application that has about 300 oracle tables. The problem comes in when we try to create the 9i Package use the Packaging Wizard. For some reason, when the Table name is around 30 Characters, the Packaging wizard chokes with the error message as follows: Packaging Wizard Failed - 500 - ORA-00972 Identifier too long... Initially we had thought that 9i was choking because of the number of tables(300)..that is NOT the case anymore, it is the size of the table names.
I can create the tables/snapshots in 9i lite without any problems. The limitation comes in with the 9i database Packaging Wizard.

Unfortunately, since this is a vendor supported application, there is not a way to change table names..executable/dll/ocx, etc.

Has anybody found a way around this problem? We have a huge 9i Lite Replication project that depends on this.
I am even ready to do this manually if I have too, and not go through the packaging wizard.

Thanks,
Alan
