Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5788 driver for Acer Ferrari3000

Hi,

first up I'd just like to say that I think this forum is having some slight problems as when I tried logging in I was redirected to a Java UI login page which resembled the admin login of the Sun Ray Server Software or the Sun Secure Global Desktop software too???

I don't think I was supposed to be there anyway, also the Open Solaris site seems down too??

Now that's out of the way I would just like to ask if there is a driver for the Acer Ferrari 3000 NIC?

I discovered this site: http://blogs.sun.com/pradhap/entry/ferrari_4000_flash_install

which is for a Ferrari4000 install and the driver seems slightly similar to mine, although on my laptop it's I think the same NIC as in the 3200 model which I also have and an lspci from CenOS on it reveals the model of NIC to be:
00:0b.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5788 Gigabit Ethernet (rev 03)
I checked the Broadcom site and downloaded the link given from the site mentioned above:

http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/driver-sla.php?driver=570x-Solaris

which suggests that the BCM5788 model is actually a NetLink not a NetXtreme?? even though my other laptop's kernel claims it to be?

Regardless I proceeded on with the site's advice and installed the driver form the link above for the NetXtreme and upon doing a pkgadd it installed fine but gave the output: "unable to attach"

Apart from that it seems to be installed only dladm show-link doesn't reveal anything and ifconfig -a plumb doesn't do any thing either, since the driver doesn't seem to be loaded in the first place!

The output of prtconf is as follows:
System Configuration: Sun Microsystems i86pc
Memory size: 511 Megabytes

I am not sure which of these is actually the wired NIC and I don't have more time on the machine to do a more thorough investigation as the AMD Athelon CPU will overheat within half an hour of boot.....

The Wireless NIC needs to be put in via NDIS wrapper so I was hoping to get the wired NIC sorted before proceeding on to the much needed frkit and then the wireless.

I am trying to install SXCE b_111 so all other drivers are in the system bar the NICs and modem which I got from the output of the Sun Device Detection Tool.

Has any one got any suggestions?

Many thanks!
