BPM studio doesn't start on snow leopard

I've installed BPM studion 10.3.1 on my mac running snow leopard. When I start the application the icon bounces for a few times in the dock and then quits without a message. If I start eclipse by hand from the eclipse folder it starts. I can select a working folder, after that it asks me if I want to send feedback to Oracle. After that Eclipse opens without a perspective. When I try to open the BPM perspective I get the error message "Problems opening perspective 'studioPerspective'". I can open other perspectives like Resource.

does anybody have a solution or a suggestion to look into?
