Booting Ultra5 from Solaris9 CD-ROM

807559May 5 2003 — edited May 28 2003
Colleagues,

I inherited an Ultra5 with Solaris 2.7 running fine. When S9 became available for download, I cut the CD's and attempted to boot the U5 with S9. No go. I typed "boot cdrom" at the "go" prompt and the following message was returned:

Boot device: /pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/ide@3/cdrom@2,0:f File and args:
Can't read disk label.
Can't open disk label package
Evaluating: boot cdrom

Can't open boot device

A probe-ide shows the following:

Device 0 ( Primary Master )
ATA Model: ST38410A

Device 1 ( Primary Slave )
Removable ATAPI Model: CRD-8322B

Device 2 ( Secondary Master )
ATA Model: ST39120A

Device 3 (Secondary Slave )
Not present

I then took the same CD and successfully booted up my E220R server
with no issues.

What else is required to boot my Ultra5 from CD-ROM?

Thanks in advance.
