Blank Page with “Bad Request” on Error – APEX 24.2

Chandler BingAug 4 2025

After upgrading APEX to version 24.2, when an error occurs on a page (such as a SQL error or missing item name), the expected APEX error message page does not appear when running through Tomcat. Instead, the application displays a completely blank white page with only “Bad Request” shown in the top-left corner.

However, when running the same application through standalone ORDS, the error is displayed correctly as an APEX error page with full details.

ORDS is currently running on version 23.2, and due to certain constraints, there are no immediate plans to upgrade ORDS.

Query:

What could be the reason for this behavior difference post APEX 24.2 upgrade?

Has there been any change in APEX or ORDS behavior affecting error handling via Tomcat?
