Blackberry Enterprise Server

Hi All,

I am curious to know how the Blackberry Enterprise Server sends data to the RIM based devices. To be more specific what are the functions of a Blackberry Enterprise Server.

1. I believe it can access the Calendar Data.
2. It can access the Mail box

How is the data that is read from a IMAP server sent to the device. I was looking at the blackberry documentation but am reaching nowhere.

Any help is greatly appreciated
