bit checking in a number

hi oracle people!
I was wondering if it is possible in oracle to check for a certain bit in a number
ie
i would like to check for bit 1 my option column whcih is a number[10] datatype.

so if the number 3 is in there '0011' or number 5 '0101' etc I can get them both by checking for bit 1 being set?
