Best way to resize an image in Java

807603Dec 16 2007 — edited Dec 16 2007
hi,

I have trawled through the many google results on resizing an image in Java. There seems to be a wide-spread difference in opinion on which is the easiest way to produce the best result. I want to resize a larger image (JPEG, GIf or BMP) into a smaller image without losing image quality / definition and most importantly not losing its dimension ratio. At first glance JAI looks the bay forward but I have heard it said that it is actually very over-complicated. Someone else has been exhaulting the powers of Java 2D. If anyone has any experience with these I would be very grateful for some advice.

Many thanks
Hugh
