Best Practices on calculating YOY variance for YTD

Hello,

There is a business requirement to calculate YoY (Year-on-Year) numbers. As in Aug09 YTD vs Aug08 YTD.

I want to know the best practice around calculating the variance to calculate Aug09 YTD Vs Aug08 YTD and to show the same on data form. The data loaded is at periodic level for each month.

I mean should I uses DTS or should I create YTD members for each month in the period dimension?
