Best practices for Attaching Oracle to SAN

Good day,

I have an Sun Oracle 11 setup that mounts LUNs from an EMC san.

In basic testing we noticed that it it takes a very long time to write files to the lun if we use forcedirectio in /etc/vfstab in the mount options.  Remove these and the speed increases dramatically.

Also, in the SHOW PARAMETER FILESYSTEMIO_OPTIONS we see 'async'  as the option.

Question:  Is there a best practice document for setting up a filsystem for Oracle when attaching to SAN and does the FILESYSTEMIO_OPTIONS make a difference?
