New to Java

I am looking to create a basic program that will allow 2 computers to connect wirelessly and transmit a small ammount fof data.

This is purely as a test to show theoretical tiems for establishing and transferring data over an ad hoc wireless connection

Alas I have absolutely no idea where to start and everythign I have found online is quite confuisng.

If anyone could point me in the direction of something to read or an example of how to get started in making a very basic system like this it would be most appreciated.
