What are the different options do we have to backup very large OLTP (5 TB) database running on 11g R2? Storage based solutions are taking very less time to backup and recovery but it is a costly solution. Also recovery point of view we have limited options. On the other hand RMAN has multiple recovery options but I think backup time is more. Also there is impact on overall performance on the system. Wanted to know your thought and market trend on backup strategies as your database grows and it is really growing faster without any question.
