Backup job fails on "Step:Backup" with Status of Failed and Exit Code -1
bartrwAug 29 2007 — edited Aug 30 2007I am trying to set up a regular backup job via the Targets / Database / Maintenance / Schedule Backup Wizard in OEM 10g R2.
My database is an Oracle 9.2.0.7.0 database on a Windows server.
My backup job appears to run correctly and the last line in the "Step:Backup" OEM output says -
RMAN> delete noprompt obsolete device type disk;
RMAN retention policy will be applied to the command
RMAN retention policy is set to redundancy 1
Which to me appears normal (when I have run the RMAN script from the command prompt on the Windows Server, these are the last lines that I see in the RMAN output).
However, the OEM job reports that the b"Step:Backup" has failed, and has the Exit Code of -1.
If I log onto the Windows server where the database is that I'm backing up is, and go to the Administrative Tools / Event Viewer, I see that at the time my RMAN job failed, an Application Error has occurred - "Faulting application RMAN.EXE, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module oracore9.dll, version 9.2.0.7, fault address 0x000413a5."
I have raised a SR with Oracle MetaLink, which is currently open but unresolved, so was raising it here too, to see if anyone else had any similar problems.
Any suggestions??
(As additional information - relevant or not - This Windows Server database was previously backed up by an ArcServe RMAN Oracle agent which did the backup directly to tape. I am trying to use OEM to perform the backup to disk, and then have the OEM backup set backed up to tape as part of the file system backup).
Thanks in advance for any help.
