Oracle Database Discussions

Hi all,


I created a scenario like, when database is up and running i moved all the controlfiles to some other location. But still database is running smoothly. Then i create a table and inserted some values and commit. Now the question is what happens to scn status even when controlfile is not available??? What is the significance of the control file??? log switch and checkpoint is happening but where this is being updated???? Also, when i moved control files back to the database it's working fine ireespective of all the system changes not updated in these controlfiles!!!!
