back to forms questions

lakeSep 12 2018 — edited Sep 26 2018

I am trying to get back into forms after a couple years vacation.

Is there an faq about installing forms server? Very sorry I haven't found it yet. This must be a very common question.

I want to install the latest version of forms server and weblogic on windows.  I'm thinking the latest forms version is 12.1.2.1.3?

1. What is the version of weblogic for forms 12.1.2.1.3? Is it also 12.1.2.1.3 or something else?

2. Can I run the above on windows 2016?

3. Can I run the development environment of forms on windows 10?

Thanks so much for reading a new user question.

I found this but as usual I am having lots of trouble understanding it:

Oracle Fusion Middleware Supported System Configurations

later: I found the faq: https://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/documentation/faq-for-upgraders-3176010.pdf

Now I have even more questions.

Additionally I found this:

https://oracle-base.com/articles/12c/standalone-forms-builder-12c-installation-on-windows-1221

Oh dear it says: "

In Oracle Forms 11g a WebLogic Server installation was a prerequisite for the Forms Builder, making the footprint of a development PC quite substantial. Oracle Forms 12c allows a Standalone Forms Builder installation, which no longer needs a WebLogic Installation.

The standalone installation does not allow forms to be run, just built and compiled. To run them, they must be deployed to a full installation of Oracle Forms and Reports Services. There is no standalone equivalent of Oracle Reports."

Whoa. Is that true? In that case I'd have to run weblogic on the development machine, leading more importance to the question, does weblogic run on windows 10 or does it actually have to be a server version of windows?

This matrix does NOT show windows 10 as certified. It's windows 7 or  server versions. Really? I hate to have to run 2016 just for development. But yes I want to run the

form I am developing.
