AWE_WINDOW_MEMORY size and VLM on windows

510293Jun 19 2007 — edited Jun 19 2007
Hi all.

I am wondering how much memory for AWE_WINDOW_MEMORY is enough.
Our system environment is as followings :

1. o/s : window 2003 EE sp1
2. physical memory : 8Giga
3. DB : 2-node RAC 10.2.0.2.0

I would like to set VLM on windows 2003 EE sp1 WITHOUT 4GT.
That is because some bugs were reported in VLM and 4GT
with oracle RAC 10.2.0.2.0.

Without 4GT, only 2 Giga is available for oracle except buffer cache. Right??
Thus, I am planning to use memory as follows:

1. buffer cache : 4Giga
2. AWE_WINDOW_MEMORY : 500 Mega( is enough for 4Giga buffer cache??)
3. all others for oracle : 1.5 Giga

I think 1.5 Giga is not enough for the sga(except buffer cache), pga(400 Mega),
and user processes(dedicated, about 800 concurrent connections).

How much memory is allocated to one user process(thread) in case of dedicate server mode?

In addition, I would like to hear your ANY advice with regard to VML on windows.

Thanks in advance.
Best Regards.
