Auto Convert Date Format

I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.3 and currently for the date field I have the format as MM/DD/YYYY and I want to just enter the numbers without slashes and that should auto convert to MM/DD/YYYY format.Is it possible?

For Example : Typing in 71810 should be able to automatically convert the user's typed in numbers to match the date format and display as 07/18/2010.

Any idea?
