AUD: Audit Commit Delay exceeded, written a copy to OS Audit Trail?

Hello - has anyone experienced extreme system degradation when extending/resizing a datafile on sun server (SunOS sun142.pseg.com 5.9 Generic_122300-55 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V490)?

Message in the alert log is: AUD: Audit Commit Delay exceeded, written a copy to OS Audit Trail
