attachment is too large

In iPlanet Message Express, when I send an email with an attachment which is 4MB, it shows "file is too large". If I split this attachment into two 2-MB files, the sending is successful. The browser is IE.

I never set limitation on the size of the attachment. Actually, I do not think there is an option which is to limit attachment's size. right?

But, I can send mail with big size attachment in MS Outlook.

I wonder why?

It is iMS 5.2.
