ATA transport failed on ULTRA 10 at Solaris 9 installation
I bought an Ultra 10 which has a single IBM IDE Drive DTLA-307030 (30GB) and a LG CDROM - obviously replaced. The disk is jumpered to 16 heads as master (CS works too). It can be jumpered 15 heads as master.
format verified the disk completely with 0 errors.
it reports the disk as: c0t0d0 <IBM-DTLA-307030 cyl 16381 alt 2 hd 16 sec 63> ibm /pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/ide@3/dad@0,0
When installing Solaris 9 the following messages occur after installation message "Copying mini-root to local disk":
NOTICE: /a: bad dir ino 2 at offset 0: mangled entry
along with that occur these messages in a console:
WARNING: timeout: reset target chno=0 targ=0
WARNING: timeout: early timeout chno=0 targ=0
WARNING: /pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/ide@3/dad@0,0 (dad0):
ATA transport failed: reason 'timeout' : retrying command
I installed Openboot 3.31 today successfully and have POST 3.1.0 installed.
Installing Solaris 2.6 works fine with the restriction that it detects only an 8 GB disk (though 30 GB).
This is all I know about it and I hope somebody has a hint for me:
With kind regards: Peter
