ASO to BSO Linked partition for Planning application

I need to create Partitioning between (Source-ASO) to (Targeet-BSO) with different dimensional. After doing my initial research I found out that linked partition is the only option to achieve it.

Since both the Source-ASO and Target-BSO are the part of planning application. My question

Does planning refresh process drops the linked partitioning? if answer is yes !! How to prevent dropping it ? Is it good practice to use linked partition ?
