ASM_POWER_LIMIT = 0

619082Jan 22 2008 — edited Mar 7 2008
Hi,
I would like to understand how ASM will behave if I set ASM_POWER_LIMIT=0 permanently and I really hope you all may help me on this.

On my system ASM has one disk group of type EXTERN with one ASM disk of 400GB which is a disk array with RAID5.
We have now bought a new disk array of 900GB still configured with RAID5 and I would like to add it to the disk group and since striping is already done at hardware level I would like to stop ASM from doing it.

I know that setting ASM_POWER_LIMIT=0 will stop ASM from doing striping but I'm not sure if in the end I will have a disk group of 1.3TB and if it will cause bad side effect.
