ASM Normal redundancy - three storages, three failure groups

2633645Feb 18 2015 — edited Feb 19 2015

Hello,

I've a question about failure groups in ASM. I've a ASM diskgroup with normal redundancy and disks from three different storages. Disks from each storage are in separate failure groups (see screen bellow). I know when ASM allocates an extent it allocates primary copy and mirror copy and mirror copy is placed on different disk that's part of a different failure group. And this is understood for configuration with two storages (or controllers) and two different failure groups. But what with configuration where are three storages and the failure groups? My question is: if I have three failure groups whether new extents are allocated are mirror copy are placed on other two disks that's are part of a different failure group? Or maybe that kind of configuration (with three failure groups in ASM normal redundancy) is not supported?
