Hi,

DB: 10.2.0.4
OS: AIX 5.3 L 64-bit

I have setup on 10g ASM RAC with 2 node.It has the single standby on ASM.

Total DB size is 250 GB.
Total FRA size is 700 GB.

My FRA diskgroup for archivelog ( also holds controlfile multiplex) has each disk size of 50 GB .Even if i set retention period to 1 day , the rman disk backup getting failed , because of space problem .So i am manually deleting the report obsolete data and running backup again.

I want to add space to FRA diskgroup in terms of adding disks to FRA diskgroup.But, i have the availability of disks with 100 GB , it is not the same size of current existing FRA disk size (50 GB).

Here My question is that,

1) Can i add different disk size to same diskgroup ?.If i add , will there be any performance problems?.
My all data files are out of FRA diskgroup and are there in someother diskgroup.

2) If FRA diskgroup has 50 GB and 100 GB disks , then how the archivelog and backup data will be striped?.
Will the data be stored till 50GB in all disks in FRA , even *100 GB* disk is there ?.

3) While doing recovery with different disk size in diskgroup, what type of problems i may face , in performance wise?.

4) Can i delete the 50 GB disks from any diskgroup and add the 100 GB disk , so that i can increase the all disk size in same diskgroup?.i will do the delete and add simultaneously.

5) To add disks to external redundancy diskgroup , am i ok with the below query?.

ALTER DISKGROUP FRA ADD DISK '</dev/rhdsk1>',</dev/rhdsk2>',</dev/rhdsk3>';


Please help me on my above doubts.
