Are Those Old Java Books Still Good?

I took a few Java training classes and did a few Java assignment before 2000. I've then never touched Java for 5 years. I need to pick up it now for my work. Can I read through my old Java books (Java1.x, Java2) published in 1999; or should I spend $50 ~ $100 for a couple of newest published books? That is, are there any major changes in the language, methodology,.. over past five years, which I can't ignore?
