Archived Redo Log Repository - License requirements?

vsmithFeb 13 2012 — edited Feb 14 2012
Sorry if there's a better forum ... but here goes,

Can someone point to some links that state license requirements, for a host that will have a "Data Guard Archived Redo Log Repository" running on it, only?

To jog memories, a "log repository" is an additional place where archived redo logs can be copied, from regular Primary databases.

The log repository 'instance' does not have any datafiles, and is unsuitable for fail-overs and switch-overs -
(not without doing an entire DB restore and recovery, using RMAN , and the instance being started with real 'prod' sized init parameters. And covered by a license.) .

The normal primary database would have to be Enterprise edition to utilise the 'DataGuard' features involved.
The normal physical standby (on a DR host) does need to have it's own licensing too, of course.

But I have not found any reference to licensing requirements for a host, that is for a "log repository" instance only.

Any hints, or links please?

Regards,
Vin.
