Just thought of checking with you on the archive log retention .
I have 2 databases which have the same rman configuration
CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO RECOVERY WINDOW OF 8 DAYS;
CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1;
CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' TO 1;
but one is retaining the archive logs of 5 days and other is retaining only the current ones in its destination location .
| Archive destination | /db/tmsp1/archive_logs_rman ( This is retaining only the current one's ) |
| Archive destination | /db/tmsp/archive_logs_rman |
( This is retaining for 5 days of archive logs ..)
not sure what the background process is ?
Any expert suggestion is highly appreciable ...
