ArcGIS database - Is Spatial what I need?

I am investigating using our Oracle Data Warehouse database instead of SQL Server for a LARGE ArcGIS database. I was told this could be done with Oracle and SDO Geometry. Is that Oracle Spatial? What is the most current Oracle GIS product for Oracle Enterprise database? I am currently running 12.1.0.2 but will be upgrading soon.
