applet deployment in IE 6 & netscape 4.73( browser ignoring applet tag)

Hello there.

I am having problem with running the applets in Internet Explorer
6 and also in netscape navigator 4.73.

i am currently using Java SDK version 1.4.0 on win XP platform.

IE 6 is reporting that the browser is ignoring the "applet tag"
and prompting a Java Virtual Machine download.

Netscape is reporting some "bad version " and an exception.

I have installed the JAVAtm plugin but am unable to configure it.

Please help me solve the problem.
