App.ESM file is locked

Hello,

I came across this issue of locked ESM files. I was able to resolve it by restarting the essbase server but can you please guide how this file got locked.

Unable to lock file [D:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem2\EssbaseServer\essbaseserver1\APP\CitaD\CitaD\CitaD.esm]. Essbase will try again after a short delay.

[Mon Sep 21 05:20:14 2015]Local/CitaD///20044/Error(1120005)

Unable to lock file [D:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem2\EssbaseServer\essbaseserver1\APP\CitaD\CitaD\CitaD.esm]. Please make sure other processes do not access Essbase files while Essbase server is running.
