APEX Vs. .NET TCO
jwellsnhAug 23 2010 — edited Sep 10 2013Does anyone know of an unbiased study or report that compares the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) between APEX and .NET?
It has always been my argument that the TCO of APEX is negligible since if you own Oracle you own APEX. .NET on the other hand quite often begets another Windows server (with maintenance), SQL Server maintenance costs, developer seat licenses for .NET and added training costs. I make this argument since development here at the State of NH is still managed by small fiefdom's where each group does there own thing. SQL Server databases and associated servers often are not shared and if new money (federal dollars) are available, another Microsoft development environment is purchased.
Granted I am biased from an Oracle/APEX perspective but am hoping that I can present to our CIO some concrete evidence that supports my position.
