Apex tree and report

Hi,
I am new to Apex and want to develop a hierarchy based report.
Left side of the page will display the vertical hierarchy say
1st level : Site Location
2nd Level : Technology
3rd Level : Sub-Technology

Sametime editable report will display (cost,unit,Forecast etc) based on the value of Sub-technology .
Please help me as I am learning Apex and have to develope this.
If you provide me some sample or exaple based on that can start off my work.
